From Studio to SOFA: The Standards Behind Television and Video

Loading Events

This presentation will explain some of the key standards and technologies that are used in producing and delivering recorded video from the studio lot to your TV or phone. The concepts will be presented simply and at a high level so they can be understood without a background in frequency transforms or signal processing. Potential topics include JPEG and MPEG compression; EOTFs, HDR, and log capture; DASH and HLS delivery; color gamuts; studio transport; and perhaps a preview of future developments, such as lightfield or volumetric capture.
